The Light of the Night

If you'd wake me up in the middle of the night and ask me about my favourite mountains, Cerro Torre would probably be one of the first I came up with. Ever since I first saw a picture of it, and even more so after my first visit to Patagonia, I have been deeply fascinated by the peak and its mysterious history.

Silent Watchers

Patagonia is mostly known for its famous mountains, but you'll also find a fair share of stories being told about the notorious weather. And indeed it's not uncommon to experience four season within one day. Rain, sun and clouds often create unique moods, that we photographers love so much. But what if you're facing a ridge of high pressure and clear skies?

Red Dawn

Excuse me for jumping back and forth between continents, but today I didn't really feel like posting another himalayan shot. I've been busy planning another patagonian adventure that's supposed to take place during the next few months and so I thought I'd upload another image from last year's trip...

Elusive Hues

There was no time to scout for another composition. I didn't want to miss a second of what was going on on the main stage (more on that in another post). I simply turned around, positioned my tripod, pressed the shutter button twice and turned back.

The Far Side

It was our third morning out there and we had already been thinking about not even getting out of the car. All that we could see in the west was a thick layer of low lying clouds. A few curtains of rain were hauled around by the wind. After two cloudless sunrises it seemed like this time we wouldn't even get to see the Fitz Roy range at all.

P.N. Los Glaciares Part 2

My last post Parque Nacional los Glaciares started with a quite spectacular sunrise image of the Fitz Roy Range. It was taken from a lookout called Mirador de los Condores. We had spent the previous evening scouting for locations and watched the sunset from said lookout.

Parque Nacional Los Glaciares

Patagonia and especially Parque Nacional Los Glaciares is a photographer's dream. I had no idea how beautiful it would be when I was planning our trip. I knew that it was going to be one of the highlights of our 8 weeks trip through southern America, but it turned out to be more than that.
